Fun fact: Jasper is loosely based on Ricky from The Office. I only recently remembered this when I was rewatching the series
Ricky was just a side character in the first season but he struck me as a really likable dude
whoa I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound rude or something when I asked that. I just wanted to know, because tbh I do prefer books/comics with LGBT characters or people represented since I am one. I don't mind if it doesn't, I just would be even more excited if it did. ;u; I love Phantomland, so don't get angry ;o;
Did I come off angry? I’m not angry… No, I think that’s a legitimate concern really. I’m straight myself and have the most confidence writing straight relationships, but I’m definitely interested in taking the challenge and bringing more variety to the table. As I mentioned, some of the characters I do think are LGBT - Elias and the chief’s backstories in particular may touch on the subject - but I can’t promise it’ll have a lot of prominence storywise
Thanks for reading anyway :’)

nieida9 said: Wow what? I don’t wanna sound rude but why should every comic even have LGBT-themes? They are important things but c’mon not every comic needs to circle around them. There’s lots of comics out there that handle these things already.
vernargh said: Dude wat. :’D Does every comic have to be about gays these days to get readers interested? Jeez.
Guess that’s true, but I agree that it would be cool for once to see openly queer characters in a story that isn’t the romance genre. And I’ve kinda blown most of my chances to write that :(
Sometimes I look at my characters and see a lineup of mostly white, straight, young & attractive people and it just bothers me a bit. It’s not “social justice” per se I’m concerned about, just the fact that more diversity would’ve been interesting. But it’s too late to make too many changes now, so I just gotta work with what I’ve got
are any of the phantomland characters LGBT*Q? U_U
Already in the FAQ
I mean sure, why not? There’s a number of characters I imagine having such an identity, but displaying that in canon won’t be easy! The few romantic relationships I’ve planned are all straight and too crucial to the plot to be changed. I may be able to sneak a few queer moments here and there but overall it’s gonna be a veeeery straight story
Bottom line: Phantomland won’t be a beacon of sexual/racial diversity but I plan to pay more attention to the subject in whatever project I draw after it
Music is pretty personal to a lot of people, and the kind of music a person listens to can say a lot about them. What are your characters' favourite genres of music? (or least irritable, in case Jon hates music and life or something)
Music is actually one of the few things Jon genuinely likes (I planned to write this detail into the story eventually)! Only applies to his preferred genres though, old fart hates modern stuff
Will Chie have a romantic relationship ? She's so cute, I'd love to see her with someone ^^
Can’t give you a good answer cuz I haven’t decided on everything yet, but… I’ll confirm that a crush will happen ;D
So I'm sure you're busy as it is, but I've been wondering what your take on those "Draw this character in this expression"-memes is. I'm currently trying a "25 essential expressions"-one and I wondered if I ever saw you doing one. It's good practice, though since you're so involved with Phantomland, "getting to know" your own characters better is one of your lesser worries. But YOU KNOW. I'd link you to one but tumblr says no.

25 essential expressions? I actually tried that some time ago when I was bored. This is how far I got
Usually I’m not all that interested in this type of meme… Expressions are context sensitive, aren’t they? Draw a sad face - but what are they sad about? Is it an exhausted/angry/shocked/regretful/etc kind of “sad”? Expressions are like colors; you can mix them to create more shades, with all kinds of subtlety, and that’s the whole beauty of it…
25 expressions may be useful to draw as a basic exercise but it’s still kind of a dumbed-down representation of the human range of emotions, I think
chie aka adorably awkward cutie from phantomland!
SQUEAL
You did an awesome job, this is a really well drawn Chie! Thank you so much! <3<3
You know what's really weird? My friend told me about your comic and how I'm a lot like one of the characters, (Chie I think it is?). I have long black hair that's usually in a pony tail I run really fast (I'm in track :D), and my friends always say I'm as skinny as a stick. -_- (I don't think I'm that skinny though.. I don't stop eating ever). Then when I read your comic/story, and it's the most amazing thing, and yeah.. Also sorry for my bad english, I'm not from english speaking country.

Awww I bet you’re a cutie! Chie isn’t modeled after any real person so it’s awesome to hear there’s someone like her out there!
Thanks for reading the comic - and no prob, your English is good :) (ain’t my first language either)
This will be something like the third version of the height chart ehehh…….. but this time I’ve got the proportions right so I think I’ll bear to look at it a bit longer
I know there's a lot of ChieXJon shippers out there. So I was curious, do you also ever see them awkwardly being together or not at all?

Uuuuhh tough one……….
Jon x Chie? There are reasons I would ship it (height difference is my moe for one thing), but there are also pretty heavy reasons why I wouldn’t ship it. So I really can’t tell you what’s up hahaha
In any case the development of their dynamic is something I’ve put a lot of thought into and I think it’ll be one of the more interesting aspects of the story :)
