Judging from the way the criminals that Jon and Chie have encountered have acted towards them thus far (calling them freaks and corpses), it seems to me that ghosts are often looked at with fear and repulsion from the normal people.
That is correct!
One of the major themes in the story will be the tension between two groups. The general public fears and hates the ghosts for a good reason, but there are also benefits to having them around. Most of the main characters work towards changing/improving the situation or plan to escape it altogether; time will tell who succeeds and who doesn’t :)
When is the 4th volume of phantomland coming out? I miss Jon, want to see him be badass! Also, really looking forward to see how the story develops from where it was left off at the end of vol. 3! Ps. I love the funnies :'D
I aim to have it printed for Helsinki comic fes which is next fall… but that’s the best case scenario really :-D
It’s hard to predict when I’ll have the next mental breakdown with the comic that halts my progress for weeks. #4 is a very dramatic and challenging chapter so there’s extra pressure not to screw it up!
In any case thanks for the encouragement! <3<3<3 I’m doing my best to make this worth the wait

I'm happy you find time to draw that detailed a comic. You seem like a fun person and I wish you luck in carrying out stuff that makes you and others happy.
Aw thank you! The pages do take stupidly long to finish I admit :’D Sometimes I kick myself for choosing such a tedious style, but then again it does pay off to put some effort to a thing you like!
Is Phantomland set in a completely fictional world or in a semi-real world like Tintin, Bleach, etc.?
It’s a fictional world but modeled after Western Europe more or less, with a similar history and culture :>

Here’s a map I drew a while ago (gonna redo it sometime). This is a country that used to have a big empire but gradually lost it and finally had to defend against invaders in a WWII-like scenario. I need to design the geography so the events would make sense in it… somehow…

formerlyanon said: they could just create storage areas around it, as well as soundproofing. And the rooms near the club would be in demand by those intending to be patrons, since they wouldn’t want a long trip back to their rooms
Ahaha thanks for the logic, guys :D
mesherew said: some of the hotels in my town have clubs like that, don’t worry ^^
Alright, good to know!
a hotel with a club in the middle sounds actually like a valid business-plan
Yeeeah but I’m sure any guests sleeping right next to the club would have a great time dealing with noise and drunk people :’)
Let's play around a little more with the idea of Phantomland live-action movie (there was already some talk about actors). Who would you prefer as a director? Who would you like to do the soundtrack?
Luc Besson for director because he’s good at both serious stuff (Léon) and fun stuff (Fifth Element)
Yoko Kanno for soundtrack because I can’t count the times her music has made some anime feel downright magical
Ahhh why must you make me fantasize about this stuff………

Hi! I like over the top animation a lot too and I'd give you an advice about the one that you just posted: Almost everything there is good, except for how the punched-guy reacts. In the small phase where it's in slow motion, you should already give him a little recoil, like if his head was going before the body, it will make the impact even more brutal C:<
Ahhhhhh~ of course! I forgot to consider that :D Really good advice, thanks!
I remember you recommended some sites with good pose references, but cannot find it now... Could you give us the links once again?
Pixelovely? Have fun :)
i really don't have anything to ask but jesus christ i love your style. Keep it up! :>
Dude thanks for following! Your works are really awesome as well (Finns better check out his/her tumblr asap) <3
The world demands to know: what is Elias's game platform of choice and his favourite videogames
… Weeeell I can imagine him playing almost anything but I guess he’s the type who mostly plays strategy games on PC. And Pokemon! :D
What does Chief like to do when she's off-duty?
Probably something classy like gardening and prank calls
Why does Jon wield a katana? Is there a deeper reason for it or are katanas just cool?

Originally I had no reason for the katana other than whatever it’s cool!!!, but later I would realize it actually makes a lot of sense for the character. Jon is a cruel fellow, no doubt he loves to make a bloody mess with a sharp blade :-I that said, he usually fights hand-to-hand since it’s enough for most situations
Also gunfights are difficult to make interesting so I try to avoid having them! Give your character a short-range weapon and they’ll have to work much harder to win.
In chapter 2, Chief said that Ghost Virus manipulates the victim's cells and that "none of your tissue remains the same." Does that mean that if a person catches the virus, his/her appearance will change (if he/she survives)? Or that the victim's physical strength or intelligence will change?
Thanks for reading!
This will become clearer as the story progresses but no, the infection won’t really change a person’s appearance - aside from the dots - however a normal person who walks up to a ghost person will notice there’s something a little “off” and creepy about them (chapter 4 will explain this a bit more). This is why Chie & co. must work at Cypress because it’s the only job provider that’s willing to employ them in the first place
Your average ghost is physically tougher than the average human and recovers from injuries much faster. There’s variety between individuals though; Chie isn’t particularly strong but she’s proven to be really good at running
Disclaimer: I don’t actually know shit about virology so I hope no one will call me out on how unrealistic my make-believe virus is… but at least I can promise my characters won’t grow ten-foot spiky tentacles out of thin air like they do in Resident Evil
