  • You’ve never been uncomfortable with female characters? Good for you.
  • Female sidekicks and love interests can be cool characters per se, but it doesn’t negate the alarming lack of female protagonists. Your examples are the same handful that’s brought up in every conversation - games with female-only protags still make up only 3%. So yes, we need more female heroes and stories told from a female POV. Here’s one reason why they matter. Granted Japanese games have a slightly better track record on this, but they’re guilty of some skeevy crap as well.
  • Chie is not white. Yes, she’s a timid rookie dealing with dangerous people. I don’t see a problem here.
  • What’s slut-shaming got to do with any of this? I have nothing against ladies wearing sexy outfits as long as it’s consistent with their personality. It makes sense for Isabela (Dragon Age II) and Bayonetta who are both promiscuous and sexually assertive characters. The problem here is that a rough estimate of 90% of female characters do dress in revealing outfits, and they do that FOR NO REASON other than the designer wanting something to masturbate to. And then the camera will be programmed to zoom up the character’s ass without her awareness. Yippie-fucking-doodle-doo that sure feels empowering

So no, I can’t say that I agree with most of your points ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: lots of edits, sorry. I just got out of bed and am struggling with my English agghh

  4. jm-henry said: The point was especially made when she mentioned Phantomland, because by your own logic, Chie should be the character leading the story, but she doesn’t. By you own logic, your comic would be deemed sexist again, by your own logic.
  5. jm-henry said: Honestly, Anon makes a lot of really good points and your dismissive responses show how much you *want* this issue to exist. It makes your viewpoint sound entire faith-based since you refuse to do any sort of critical thinking.

I hate it when people claim that we are “slut-shaming” when we ask that women in games or any other media wear clothing...
  9. weebcity said: I always laugh when women claim to be feminists and yet they spout so much sexist crap. Note the “whiney girls” part - she didn’t say women. She said girls in a negative way like it’s so bad to be a girl. Feminist my arse!

I want to add to this here that the creators of The Last of Us had issues putting Ellie, the girl you spend literally...
  12. beatfist said: Wow that was just so….sadly misguided u _u)… Exceptions to the rule don’t excuse the larger problem, eesh.
  13. urstruly said: Lol but the problem begins with the fact that most games are designed for ‘boys’ because businesses deemed it to be not lucrative to consider the other half of the game community..
