Jon’s attitude toward Chie is definitely getting exhausting, but I have high hopes for how things will start to develop as the story continues!

Oh no! Exhausting? :D Damn I kinda worry about that… especially since in the next story arc Chie is genuinely starting to feel afraid around Jon. He has no intention to hurt her (and he never does), but she won’t know that until later. There’s a lot of tension about it and could probably be too upsetting for some readers?? But then again I really don’t want to pull any punches when trying to drive home the point that men are fucking scary.

Also maybe there’s the problem of webcomic pacing where a single page with bad feels will hang in the air for a full week rather than the five seconds you’d spend with it in a book?

Ehhh maybe I’ll put a content warning for chapter 6 :D;;;; My comic will definitely turn off some readers in the future but at least it’s not watered down…

Its nice to see a story address the whole scary dude being a jerk angle without trying to somehow twist it into a redeeming quality. As a reader I do feel bad for Chie, so honestly its been effective so far. (Also I’m overjoyed that the comic is updating again, thank you for sharing it!)

  5. blufeniix said: I feel like I should also not, I’m not hoping/expecting their relationship to turn into something cute/funny, just more of a… Jon isn’t quite AS snappy, and calmer around her, and Chie finally settling into her new place in the world as it were. I don’t know if that’s the right wording I’m looking for?? Either way, I’m enjoying YOUR story, and as I said def gonna be hangin around to see how everything turns out!

  7. blufeniix said: Aw no, don’t worry!! Like I said, I’m eager to see how it grows, and I think it’s your point exactly; the pages hang on for a week between updates, where as most other stuff I read (manga, fanfic, etc) it’s more content in between waiting! Don’t get me wrong, as exhausting as Jon can be I am LOVING the story and the characters, rough old Jon included! <3 I’m not planning on ditching the series any time soon, I’ve been following it WAY too long to let a little pacing*

  9. nieida9 said: Could be also that character dynamics like these often sooner rather than later develop into something cute and/or funny and people might expect it from these characters as well. And then perhaps get frustrated when it doesn’t happen.
