I think about things and question a lot of stuff because that’s what I do, that’s what I grew up doing, and that’s what I’ll keep doing in the future. I’ll sometimes write those thoughts down on my blog so if you dislike the content, feel free to click that unfollow button and have a nice day!
Sometimes I realize I’m wrong and ignorant and I apologize for it. That’s just normal for me; I’m not afraid of being wrong once in a while. I’ll much rather learn new interesting stuff through my fuck-ups than passively sit around mute because I’m too scared to speak at all. I’m not scared of the emotionally unstable little children on tumblr. I’m not gonna hang myself no matter how many times they tell me to. (Sorry guys, I’m not depressed enough to pull that off! I don’t even have a good rope!)
More writing after the cut.
I get how you feel, tumblrites. I’ve been pro-women since childhood but it wasn’t until my early 20’s that I found feminism and educated myself on it. I got turbo pissed at all the injustices I read about, and that would fuel me to pick a fight with pretty much any rando who said some mildly sexist dumb thing on my social media feed.
I did that for a short while. Eventually I stopped for the most part, because… why? I realized it’s a waste of time. Who were those people anyway? Just some totally random, generally well-adjusted regular people with no influence over my life. They weren’t even attacking ME personally. Was it worth the trouble to spend a whole afternoon carefully picking apart their arguments and lining up my sources to prove how much they’re a disgusting misogynist asshat? Nah. At that point I was only serving my own ego. I was right and I wanted everyone to know just how gosh darn RIGHT I was.
Being right and aggressively beating your opinion over the head of some internet stranger is not a solution to any socio-political issue. It’s not going to improve your life, or theirs, or anyone else’s in the world. Especially if you proceed to straight up harass them or even attempt to start a witch hunt on them. Remember that kid who drew a skinny Rose (from Steven Universe) and got bullied so much they ended up in a hospital? I mean what the fuck?
If a celebrity, politician, or some corporate representative expresses a stupid opinion in public, by all means get concerned and voice those concerns. Write a blog post, set up an address campaign, whatever. The topic gets valuable attention and may reach a lot of people this way. That’s a good deed. People with a lot of power and supporters can handle being criticized by the masses. It’s usually part of their job to have good values and not spread hateful rhetoric.
If some small-time blogger has a stupid opinion… who the fuck even cares? They’re nobody. They’re probably very young. Roll your eyes and move on. Save your energy. Maybe leave a comment if they seem like a danger to society (they usually don’t). I guess it’s tempting to bully them off the internet or better yet, try to ruin their life because they’re such an easy target. They’re just one person with only a handful of followers! They have no way to defend themselves! LET’S DO IT!!! IT’S GONNA FEEL SO GOOD WHEN THEY BREAK DOWN MMMMHHH AAAAHHH LOOK AT ME I’M A HERO OF JUSTICE.
So consider that maybe, just maybe you’re just a big jerk stirring shit with the wrong people to score yourself a temporary ego boost. It’s great that you have the passion to fight for good, but a big part of that is learning to pick your battles and behave in a civilized manner. That’s how mature people do it. Like adults and stuff.
(And no, if you still want to write me hate mail please don’t bother because I won’t read it. I’ve already said everything I wanted, I’ve apologized for every mistake I made, and I really don’t care about the opinions of strangers.)
op is a fucking idiot. didn’t even properly apologize and more importantly didn’t even fucking delete the Hanzo...
good
