Heyyy anyone familiar with Paypal! I’m gonna start selling books again with people sending payments to my account, was there something I should be aware of lest Paypal gets suspicious and takes my money away? I kinda recall there was something but can’t remember?

  1. bmoviemonster answered: Dont recieve too many payments marked “donation”

  3. pyradragon answered: I don’t know that much about Paypal. I know that when you receive money from jobs (not gifts) Paypal takes a certain percentage of that money as a fee.
  4. chutkat answered: Paypal is very safe for web transactions, but it does charge a very small fee per transaction, other than that, I have been using it since 2006 without troubles.
  5. yinza said: Basically don’t let people use the “send money to family/friends” option. You can make sure it shows as a goods/services purchase if you send invoices, including being able to mark digital sales as complete tho that shouldn’t be a problem with books.
  6. tumblueberry answered: Paypal is apparently being more strict about the usage of their site, so pick something “legal” in exchange of the goods. If they see something suspicious, the sue could be like 2000€. I think it’s better to send clients an invoice they have to pay :)
  7. ringmydingdong answered: I think the thing going around was if someone bought digital art they had to specify sth about that so that paypal wouldn’t charge you if you never ‘send’ something? But yeah with books that shouldnt happen except they’re ebooks
  8. currentgoddess answered: theres a fake paypal floating around out there that people use in internet scams (my parents got caught in one and nearly fell for it) it looks a lot like paypal but it isnt so be careful friend
  9. zvart answered: Basically make sure if the buyer is sending you money, they pick “Goods and Services.” If the book is an e-book, make sure they pick “No Sending Address” as that isn’t the default.
  10. notthatrelevant answered: iirc, just keep it honest. if the payments are denoted as being for a service, yeah you’ll lose a small portion, but paypal won’t be suspicious. if you have a bunch of people suddenly donating, they might look into it. again, iirc.
  11. 20biscuits answered: Adjusting your price to exactly cover the fee they charge you is something they’ll shut down your account for.
  12. twistedviper answered: there’s fees going on now so be aware of that
  13. floreum said: Send invoices to everyone who is interested and you’ll be safe. If you take money via friends and family option, PayPal will charge you $2000.
