Not sure if you've answered this one before but yeah, did you study swedish in school or is that optional in finland?
Swedish is still mandatory as far as I know…? Jag var alltid jätte dåligt på svenska and they teach us Finland Swedish, the local dialect which is completely useless if you ever planned to talk with a native Swede :—D But I can read some of the signs when I visit Stockholm so that’s nice

I’m not kidding this is like the fifth time someone on the internet goes “omg your name is Maria?????”
- First of all, Maria is one of the most common names in the world so I don’t get what you guys are so excited about
- Secondly my name is not Maria, it’s Maaria. It’s Maaria on every single online profile I’ve got. Yes it’s based on the same biblical figure but it’s an old Finnish variation that’s spelled and pronounced differently
Probably sounds like nitpicking but I’m sure many people out there understand how annoying it gets to have your name constantly misspelled and mispronounced by others… even other Finns tend to have problems with my name despite it being so simple, sigh
