Fan art for maariamph, her lovely characters Chie and Jon from her comic Phantomland. I’m a big fan of her comic so I had to draw some fan art! Chie is my favourite character so I was going to draw her only but I could not just leave out Jon, that amazing bastard! I had fun doing this and I’m glad I got the chance to give the original to maariamph at Tracon.

Jon is totally sending a message to Chie with his moles. You know, something like the magic coins in Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix. Chie's moles will turn into text that says "HELP ME DAMN BRAT I'M FUCKING DYING" Rossini can read it for her. And then Chie can save Jon with her hidden special powers.

Yeah I got back to school. Turns out I’m having trouble getting used to it so I’ve been 50% busy and 50% sleepy this week. Feeling like garbage atm but I’ll learn to manage this eventually. The next few pages also have some challenging dialogue that I want to rewrite so yepppp next friday seems like a good deadline for that

Maaria, I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't read phantomland yet (I have a bad habit of waiting for series to go on before I catch up so I won't run out any time soon. I do love everything you draw!) BUT everytime you post an update, the little preview pictures slay me. I just laughed 5 minutes straight at the gimme gimme gimme. You are amazing.

Lil’ preview of a thing I’ve been working on! Me and a bunch of other Finland-based artists made a Steven Universe fanzine over the summer, and if printing goes without problems we’ll be selling it at Tracon on September 5th! (also mail orders after that)

Lately I got myself new ink and it’s awesome. Why I didn’t figure this out earlier is anyone’s guess because this is actually the brand manga artists use.
The Deleter ink I used before was this unpredictable crap that needed diluting with water and even then it clogged the nib like a motherfucker. Needless to say inking was kinda tedious, but I was committed to the manga-style lineart and didn’t want to give it up.
I’m one of those people who say “expensive tools won’t
make you a good artist” but if you work with ink and nibs, GET GOOD INK.
I still get neck pain from inking though, no matter how I set up the paper or myself. That’s still a problem I need to figure out. But things are good now, I can work on Phantomland a little faster than before and I’m happy about it.

Pearl? You mean this Pearl? I wasn’t planning to make new prints for comicfes, I’m not even sure I’m allowed enough space to sell prints :U But thanks for your interest, I’ll keep that in mind
