Is Santa Luison the country’s capital city? If not, is it important in any way other than having the ghost population?
Yup, it’s the biggest city as well. Everything important, country politics etc, happen in there. Other cities exist too but the rest of the country is mostly hicksville

The stars on that goddess’ dress and crown resemble the star markings on Cypress uniforms. Is this intentional?
Hehe I’m glad someone noticed! It’s not just Cypress, the star motif is found in lots of places. It’s original meaning is mostly lost and forgotten though, people tend to use it for decoration only
Yeah, I don’t have a PS4 yet so I watched some playthroughs. I loooved it, especially the endlessly looping corridor, that’s the kind of weird shit I like the most in horror. Probably would’ve shat my pants at the jumpscare lady if I’d played it myself though, haha. I’m really looking forward to the game!
Hi! Since you’re a complete stranger I can’t make any judgements on your character or work ethic, but 30+ books for a newcomer sounds way over-the-top! Do you absolutely need to make it that long or could you crop it into something shorter to maybe continue later if you feel like it? I suggest you at least draw a couple short stories first, it’ll help you figure out what your strengths/weaknesses are and what kind of graphic style suits you best.
I had no clue if there was any “demand” for Phantomland, what with Finland being a country of realistic comics about banal things - but I started drawing anyway because fuck it, I love my baby even if no one else does. Don’t draw a comic with the aim to gain a big audience. Big audience most likely won’t find you, even if you’re terrific. Especially when it’s a long project you draw it for yourself first and foremost. It might take a while, it might take years, but if your stuff is great and you put tons of love into it, someone will appreciate it eventually.
Also no no no no comics in Japan are a bunch of stressful inhuman bullshit, nothing glorious about it (as far as I’ve been informed). On top of that you’d have to deal with an editor who may force you to change your story entirely. Just stick to webcomics, you’ll have complete creative freedom and the best shot at getting noticed. I must repeat though, don’t get too dependent on attention because it can ruin your motivation.
This all might’ve sounded discouraging but yes. Draw your comics. Since you live in a socialist wonderland it’s technically possible to pursue whatever crazy dream you have without starving from it. So go for it! START NOW. Don’t worry about being “ready”, just get to work. Don’t make your 80yo future self regret a thing that never happened. Good luck anon!!

In some of the latest pages, Rossini mentioned that “government was a total mess AFTER THE WARS.” Does that mean that the country Santa Luison is located in was involved in a series of conflicts it lost, and ended up with ruined infrastructure and state of anarchy like Germany after World War 1? And if Rossini was a child back then, does that mean that it has been at most 30-35 years since the mentioned wars? What’s the story behind this?
Good question, thanks! Actually I might have to retcon that part because I’m not sure how many wars there actually were, haha. Probably just one. But you’re correct, it’s meant to resemble the WW’s in real history, basically this huge event that turned the country unstable and corrupt for a period of time. The war ended around 45-50 years ago, Rossini was born sometime after but he saw the effects of it as a child

Is Cypress HQ off-limits to no-ghosts? Or do some normal people pay quick visits there (like politicians or high-ranking police officers who have business with Chief)?
Never really thought about this before but thanks for bringing it up! I suppose regular people need a special permit to get in. Crazy political extremists might try to blow up the HQ if they got the chance :D
More virus talk! :O

WELL YEAH by that logic some of the characters could have tails, that would be pretty hardcore weird……. Geez I gotta sit down for a bit. Motherfucking tails
ladybajingo reblogged this from you and added:
NOPE DO IT IM SOLD. I WILL BUY EVERY BOOK. GRUMPY BIG DUDES WITH SHARP TEETH ARE MY LIFE AND IM GOING TO CRY FOR YEARS. THERE WILL BE A LAKE OF MY TEARS AND THEY’LL CALL IT LAKE OF THE BARA LOVING LOSER LADYBAJINGO.
Hahaha holy shit, I approve of this reaction. Can’t blame ya though sharp teeth are pretty rad!
bloody-cyber-punk said: thats cool and all, but it looks straight up canine. wouldnt it make more sense to look more primate like if its from our past evolutionary stages?
True! But primate teeth are really humanlike, only with bigger canines, and I kinda want to avoid giving my characters that particular “vampire” look. Perhaps there was some species before primates that had more dog-like teeth, or maybe the virus itself is equipped with those particular genes? In any case this whole thing is meant to be very mysterious and will only get more crazy and implausible as the story progresses anyway, haha. Thanks for your input though!
